Windtopia's Most Recent Performance at Carnegie Hall, NYC
(January 18, 2017) 

Windtopia Wind Ensemble (formerly Flutopia Wind Ensemble) continues to raise the bar, both musically and artistically with it's outstanding members, numerous performance opportunities in venues across Northern, VA, and through workshops that are distinctly unique to Flutopia, such as the "District Band Workshop" and "Flutopia Fest."  comprised of high school wind players in and around Washington, DC and Northern, VA. 

Windtopia is comprised of high school wind, brass, and percussion players from the Northern, VA area.  Members of Windtopia are active in their high school bands, community youth orchestras, and area competitions.  Rehearsals are held on Sundays from 2:00-4:00 at Trinity Christian School (Fairfax, just down the road from GMU) so that students can maintain their school and community obligations, as well as participate in the high level musical experience that is offered in Windtopia.  

Windtopia performs three concerts a year, including a "destination concert," which has included concerts at the Strathmore Music Center, MD, George Mason University Center for the Arts and Carnegie Hall, NYC. Additionally, Windtopia members are offered supplementary experiences during rehearsal times, including workshops and sectionals with clinicians, master classes and chamber performances.  

Cumulatively, the mission of Windtopia is to promote musical excellence and dedication amongst its members through a commitment to leadership, community service and outreach, individual musical achievement, and a
lifelong love and passion for music
